By day, Simon is a BBC TV news correspondent,
specialising in crime, by night - and in just about
any other spare time - he's a crime writer.
Simon is the author of the
tvdetective
novels, in which a television reporter and a detective
work together to solve a series of extraordinary crimes,
often using the power of TV to help them.
The books have been warmly welcomed
by the critics as a fresh take on a favourite genre:
The Scotsman
- "Fiendishly clever." (on The Death Pictures)
New Books magazine - "A compelling thriller...
very difficult to put down." (on Evil Valley)
Books Monthly - "Absolutely riveting, a great
read." (on The Judgement Book)
The popularity of Simon's work is
growing fast. He's been invited to give talks at a
series of prestigious events, including the British
Crime Writers' Association Annual Conference, the
Agatha Christie, Daphne du Maurier, and Reading Crime
festivals.
In his early 40s in terms of years,
Simon lives by the river in the Devon city of Exeter,
with his wife Jess. He lists hobbies as walking, reading,
food and drink, people watching, and thinking up ever
more cunning and imaginative ways to commit crimes,
albeit fictitiously, of course.
